Nature Provides Allegory of the Comment Threads at the Valve
Folks keep bringing up Ouroboros, but I actually think that this fits what’s going on over there better.
A 13-foot Burmese python recently burst after it apparently tried to swallow a live, six-foot alligator whole, authorities said. […] The snake was found with the gator’s hindquarters protruding from its midsection. Mazzotti said the alligator may have clawed at the python’s stomach as the snake tried to digest it.
You’re being criminally vague here: are “you people” the alligator and “us folks” the python or vice versa? Because either way–and I say this as someone better-versed in evolutionary and game theory than an English Ph.D. has a right to be–at some point those two squared off and decided, mutually, that suicide was preferable to each other’s company. Seriously, calm down, or I’ll pop out the claws. Snickety Snick Now, say bye-bye to the babies kitties…
(Yes, I will think less of you if you catch that reference…just so long as you promise to think less of me for making it.)

Scott, you’re really on “our” side… I don’t even think of you as one of them…
The beauty of the image is that everyone is both snake and gator at once.
Sorry, tho, no – don’t get the reference…

I Am Become Ubiquitous
So the good people of Long Sunday have decided to take the Kaufman Challenge and post my little series on Foucault over there as well. That means the same post now appears below, on the Valve and on Londay Sunday.
