		<description><![CDATA[Yeah, you know, I was saying something similar a friend recently, re: shows like &lt;i&gt;Weeds&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;Big Love&lt;/i&gt;. They provide a psychological (fantasy) wage. Behind the conformism and homogeneity of white, middle-class suburbia, life is sexy and full of transgressions. The medium is truly the message here. It&#039;s the show itself that makes the tedium of  the 80 hour workweek or the cut-and-paste &#039;burbs barely bearable. 

And isn&#039;t Sarah Palin a version of this, too? A hockey-mom that morphs into Chuck Norris?

We&#039;ve got a good little cadre of people working on the 1973-2008 period, here in Berkeley. And we&#039;d be happy to have your help!]]></description>
